Do we really need to listen more to young people? Iâ m not so sure. Do we really need to listen more to young people? Iâ m not so sure. In fact, having spent years as a volunteer mentor to young people on the streets of Peckham, South London, one of the most deprived parts of the country, I have come the conclusion that we actually need to listen to them far less. It is time we stopped worshipping at the high altar of youth. It is both misguided and dangerous.
